A drink with Hemingway

Saturday, 17 June 2017

The history and nostalgia of the cafes on Saint Germain Boulevard was not lost on me. This was, after all, once the neighbourhood of the literary and artistic greats. Les Deux Magots and Café de Flore are a block apart and rival as the most famous cafes in Paris. Clientele included the likes of Picasso, Hemingway, Fitzgerald and even Julia Child!

I dragged Scott, Em and Stew (or "Stoo" as E likes to call him) to Les Deux Magots on our first day - yes it was a tiny table, and yes the menu was over priced, but the people watching and the atmosphere was very Paris!

The following night, after we stuffed ourselves silly on steak frites at the famous Le Relais de l'Entrocôte (don't even get me started on that sauce!) we stopped for a nightcap at Café de Flore and ordered a bottle of champagne. Why not?! E had Peppa Pig after all.

A xx
