“We had been here often before as tourists, desperate for our annual ration of two or three weeks of true heat and sharp light. Always when we left, with peeling noses and regret, we promised ourselves that one day we would live here. We had talked about it during the long gray winters and the damp green summers, looked with an addict’s longing at photographs of village markets and vineyards, dreamed of being woken up by the sun slanting through the bedroom window.”
- Peter Mayle, A Year in Provence
It was love at first sight, the minute we rolled down the driveway.
Of course, we had seen all the pictures online when we booked, but nothing compares to the real deal. This place is magic...
Let us take you on a tour of our "Summer house in Provence" ...
Inside, the beautiful vaulted ceilings and huge fireplace create a cozy lounge room on the cooler nights. The decor provincial, down to the antiques and artwork.
The french doors open onto the terrace, where we enjoyed most of our meals.
The kitchen is a cook's dream. From the rustic kitchen table to the gorgeous china and dinnerware.
The upstairs bedrooms have a view to die for. Waking up to see the sun rising over the vineyards below was magic.
And outside, all the little spots in the garden where we love to sit and watch the sun set, drink in hand, admiring the ever changing landscape and wondering how on earth we will go back to our 'real lives'.
After four months in this place we were starting to call home, it's time to say goodbye. A few tears were shed, and promises made to return again one day. We have our memories and photos that we will look at longingly when real life resumes. We'll keep buying those lotto tickets and if the lucky numbers come up we'll be back, cheque book in hand!
A xx
